For the last ten years Norwegian jazz guitar player Ketil Gutvik (born 1972) has explored the universe of sound based guitar playing, following the footsteps of pioneers like Derek Bailey, John Russell, Roger Smith, Christian Münthe, and others. This activity has included a large number of concerts at clubs and festivals in- and outside Norway, both as solo-performances, permanent groups and many different ad hoc-constellations. Some of Ketil's recent projects are: Duo with Kjell Samkopf. Duo with John Russell. Trio with Børre Mølstad and Dag Erik Knedal Andersen (No, Gutvik).

Since 2003 Ketil has run his own summer-concert-series for improvised music, Gutvik Ukentlig, in Oslo. He is also part of the Fritt Fall-network which presents 14 concerts a year at the gallery-bar Sound of MU.
